Company History
Clarity Group, Inc. was formed in 2002 by Rick Becker and Anna
Marie Hajek, two senior healthcare executives with a combined 60+
years in the industry. Before starting Clarity, the two worked
together at MMI Companies, Inc. from 1985 to 2000, where Rick
served as Chairman and CEO and Anna served as Executive Vice
President and the head of the Healthcare Risk Services Group.
During their time at MMI, Rick and Anna grew the organization from
a small, purely medical malpractice insurance company in to a
large, publicly traded corporation in the top 10 of US medical
malpractice underwriters with a robust risk-quality-safety arm
focused on engineering medical risk exposure through education,
consultation and clinical data benchmarking services.
Shortly after MMI was sold to The St. Paul Companies in 2000,
Rick and Anna assembled a team of insurance operations, risk, and
claim management specialists from the former MMI and created
Clarity Group, Inc. This new company focused on empowering
healthcare providers to manage professional liability and improve
patient care through innovative risk financing and integrated
risk-quality-safety management solutions.
Clarity initially worked with healthcare technology companies
providing interim management support, but by the end of 2002, we
began to work with healthcare providers in the strategic management
of their own professional liability risk. As a consulting and
operations management company, we at Clarity specialize in
innovative, integrated risk-quality-safety systems and healthcare
captive insurance company development and management. We help
strengthen our clients' strategies to improve patient safety and
control costs in this ever-changing healthcare landscape by
focusing on the management of healthcare quality as it directly
relates to mitigating professional liability risk exposure.
