ACCOUNTANT

We are a professional services company seeking an Accountant with experience in Property and Casualty insurance accounting. Your focus will be to manage accounting responsibilities and financial reporting for captive insurance companies.

Major Duties:

    • Work with CFO to compile, review, analyze, reconcile, and interpret financial information from various sources and prepare working papers and internal, statutory and GAAP basis company financial statements and supplementary schedules for various captive insurance companies
    • May reconcile assigned company investment and cash accounts, as well as basic general ledger account reconciliations; provide Chief Financial Officer with support in preparing schedules and research/analysis for more difficult account reconciliations
    • May review or determine general ledger account, department and allocation coding for invoices, check requests, and travel expense reimbursements
    • May enter data into accounts payable software or give payment request documentation to Accounting Technician to enter into software
    • May audit requests for return premium and commission adjustment payments and various day-to-day activities for owned agency; submit payment requests to manager for approval of payment; may notify company personnel of missing endorsements or other discrepancies between agency billing system and insurance company processed activity
    • Responds to inquiries and answers questions from internal, external or insurance department auditors regarding financial transactions, balances and procedures
    • Performs special projects or related duties as assigned or as situation dictates

 

Qualifications:

    • Bachelor Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field equivalent
    • One (1) year related work experience preferred
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Ability to compile, analyze and communicate financial information, meet deadlines, identify and solve problems, and organize workflow
    • Excellent verbal and written communication
    • Proficiency in personal computer and related software

Sales experience is a positive, but not a necessity. Previous experience includes, but is not limited to, new account generation, account management, public engagement, public speaking, brand facilitating/management, etc.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages all communication and data for new and prospective clients in CRM, ensuring all communication is logged, information is accurate, and necessary documents are attached
  • Cultivates relationships with management of new and prospective accounts, building credibility and trust
