History

Clarity Group, Inc. was formed in 2002 by Rick Becker and Anna Marie Hajek. Rick was the Chairman and CEO of MMI Companies, Inc. (MMI) from 1985 until its sale to the St. Paul Companies in 2000. Anna was Executive Vice President and the head of the Healthcare Risk Services Group of MMI during this same time period. MMI was a publicly traded company (NYSE:MMI) and among the top ten US medical malpractice underwriters in 1999. Rick and Anna, with a team of insurance operations, risk and claim management specialists from MMI, created Clarity as a resource for the development and management of alternative risk financing mechanisms for healthcare and other industries.

Initially, Clarity Group, Inc. worked with healthcare technology companies providing interim management support. Later in 2002, the Company began to work with healthcare providers in the strategic management of their professional liability risk. As a consultative and operations management company, Clarity specializes in innovative integrated risk/quality/safety/service systems and healthcare captive insurance company development and management. By focusing its clients on the management of healthcare quality with the management of professional liability risk exposure, Clarity enables its clients to execute on their vision for healthcare excellence.

As part of its portfolio of products and services the company established Bryn Mawr Insurance Services, Inc. as a wholly-owned corporate subsidiary and property/casualty excess and surplus line insurance broker. In addition, Clarity PSO, a Patient Safety Organization certified and listed with the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality of the Department of Health and Human Services, is an operating subsidiary of Clarity Group, Inc.

The principals of Clarity each has more than 30 years of experience in healthcare professional liability insurance, regulation, alternative risk financing, claims management, risk management, quality improvement, and patient safety. Clarity's management and staff combine their skills to continuously hone the Company's singular focus on enabling its clients to execute on their vision for high quality and long-term risk financing and management solutions.

The Healthcare SafetyZone® Portal

A web-based data collection and event management tool. This tool, designed and developed by Clarity Group, Inc., enables healthcare providers to streamline data collection by transforming paper forms (currently used for patient complaints, quality reporting, medication errors, adverse drug events, safety issues, occurrence reports, etc.) to specific electronic data management. In addition to the event management module, the Healthcare SafetyZone® Portal incorporates workflow, knowledge management, real-time notification and flexible analysis and graphing to provide a complete and personalized application for the entire healthcare enterprise.
